Madhya Pradesh Shifts Focus to Jobs and Infrastructure Ahead of Simhastha 2028
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has prioritised jobs and infrastructure while accelerating preparations for Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain, announcing monthly reviews of development projects and outlining Vijayadashami celebrations across the state.
Describing Simhastha as the world's largest gathering, the Chief Minister said preparations were being accelerated at the district and divisional levels in Ujjain to ensure the convenience of devotees and the smooth conduct of religious activities. He also announced that development projects linked to Simhastha 2028 would be reviewed every month to monitor progress and ensure regular assessments of the work underway.
Speaking to reporters in Ujjain, Yadav said Madhya Pradesh had emerged as a leading example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for cleanliness. He said cities in the state consistently achieved major rankings whenever cleanliness results were announced, adding that Madhya Pradesh's urban centres occupied the first, second and third positions before cities from other states appeared in the rankings.
“Cleanliness is essential, but beyond that, our government is working across all sectors, including employment, basic facilities and infrastructure,” Yadav said, reiterating the administration's broader development priorities.
The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing development works in Ujjain and discussed preparations for the upcoming Simhastha. He said the state government was working at both the district and divisional levels, keeping in view the basic requirements of the event, the convenience of crores of devotees expected to visit the city and the smooth organisation of religious activities.
Yadav also highlighted the increase in the number of devotees visiting Ujjain following the construction and inauguration of Mahakal Mahalok under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With visitor numbers rising rapidly after the development of the religious complex, the government has decided to conduct monthly meetings to assess progress on various projects related to Simhastha.
During these meetings, officials will present progress reports on development works, allowing the government to review implementation and track preparations for the major religious gathering. The initiative is intended to keep the development programme under regular review as Ujjain prepares to accommodate the expected influx of devotees.
The Chief Minister also extended Vijayadashami greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh, describing the festival as a symbol of faith in Sanatan Dharma and the victory of truth and righteousness.
He announced that Shastra Puja, or weapons worship, would be organised at all police lines across the state on the occasion. Emphasising the importance of government participation alongside society, Yadav said he and all state ministers would attend Shastra Puja programmes organised at various locations across Madhya Pradesh.
With employment, basic amenities and infrastructure development being placed alongside cleanliness in the government's priorities, the monthly review mechanism is set to play a central role in monitoring Ujjain's preparations for Simhastha 2028 and the facilities required for the large-scale religious event.
